How to transfer an application to another organisation
Applications can be transferred from one organisation to another.
This may be:
- to another organisation you own or administer, or
- to an organisation owned by another party.
Transferring to an organisation you own / administer
An application cannot be transferred while it has an active subscription.
To transfer an application, follow the Standard transfer steps below.
Standard transfer steps
- Cancel the subscription via the Subscription view
- Go to the application's Settings
- Select Transfer
- Choose the target organisation
- Re-subscribe in the new organisation
Cancelling and recreating the subscription will result in a momentary downtime.
If the application has a Business subscription and you cannot afford even a moment's downtime, please contact Divio Support before cancelling the subscription.
Divio can perform the transfer in a way that avoids service interruption.
Transferring to a new owner
Self-managed transfer to a new owner
If the application is being transferred to another owner:
- The target organisation must exist and should have a payment method
- The user performing the transfer must be the owner of the source organisation and have admin access to the target organisation
- Once access is in place, follow the Standard transfer steps described above.
Temporary admin access can be granted via the organisation’s Collaborators view for the purpose of completing the transfer and removed afterwards.
Divio-assisted transfer
If temporary admin access to the target organisation is not possible, reach out to Divio Support and Divio will assist with the transfer.
This requires:
- a completed Ownership Transfer Form, signed by both parties and returned to Divio
Divio will then transfer the application to the new organisation.
